Poem 2nd Timothy
In the shadow of Rome, in the heart of Paul,
Writes he to Timothy, for him to stand tall.
With faith unfeigned, from childhood sure,
In God’s holy word, is wisdom’s cure.
Unto Timothy, a beloved son,
Paul's race near end, Timothy's just begun.
Stir up the gift, let no spirit fear,
God's not given us, but power is near.
Share in suffering, as a good soldier,
In this world of sin, growing ever colder.
The word of God, it's not bound or chained,
In life or death, Christ's love remained.
Hold fast the scroll, of sound words taught,
In faith and love, here you've been brought.
Guard the good, entrusted to your care,
With Holy Spirit, dwelling there.
In the last days, perilous times shall come,
Men loving self, to God’s will, they’re numb.
Having a form of godliness, but denying its power,
From such turn away, in the faithful hour.
All scripture's inspired, by God it is,
For teaching, correcting, making us His.
That the man of God, may be equipped,
For every good work, and on every trip.
Preach the word, be ready in and out of season,
Reprove, and rebuke, with all patience and reason.
For a time is coming, when truth they will not endure,
But their own desires, they will secure.
Yet, I am not ashamed, for I know in who I have believed,
And I know, that he was able to give what I have received.
To him be the glory, forever and ever, Amen,
Through trials and tears, Christ Jesus again and again.
